CATCH UP: The Snuts
Welcome to a new SAMA’s feature CATCH UP, in this new series we will be chatting with some of the previous award winners to hear how they are getting on during Lockdown. To kick things off we caught up with last year’s Best Rock/Alternative winners The Snuts!
How would you describe your creative mode right now?
Unrelenting if I’m honest. Initially we had teething problems in passing music around with the circumstances. We’re always ones to make the most of our situation and very rarely as a touring band are you given 2 months writing time. Lyrically Jack always has something up his sleeve, and musically we’re tighter than ever. The sounds are getting madder I must admit..
What has been keeping you entertained during lockdown?
We done a couple covers of tracks that mean a lot to us. We’re just trying to become better musicians and artists at every turn. We’re pretty focused right now - it feels good.
It feels like music has played a big part for everyone during lockdown, what's your ultimate feel-good track and/or album that you keep coming back to, and why?
We’re actually adding to a Spotify playlist every week to kinda still feel connected to fans by letting them in on what we’re listening to throughout these trying times… you should check it out.
How was your experience at the SAMA's last October?
We were actually gutted we couldn’t attend, we had shows over in Belfast and Dublin so sent an acceptance video and Jacks mum, Janice collected it. She had an absolute ball though. Was humbling to win an award as there is so much quality alternative music coming from Scotland right now.
Once the situation normalises, what are you looking forward to doing first?
Live music. We live and breathe this shit so its an adjustment trying to live without. We’re lucky that’s the only adjustment we are having to make in our lives during these times if I’m honest. BUT as soon as its safe, we will back at it to see everyone again.
Have you got any upcoming events or releases you would like to plug?
Keep your ears to the ground… new shit might drop sooner than expected…
