The first award given out on the night, Best Metal in association with Cathouse Glasgow, was presented by Tom Russell to Edinburgh act Perpetua.
Up next was Best Electronic in association with Assai UK, presented by Fiona Soe Paing which Be Charlotte took home.
More live music followed in the form of Edinburgh trio Stillhound who played tracks from their debut album Bury Everything.
Best Hip Hop in association with 1000fans was presented by previous winner GASP and snapped up by Dumbarton rapper sYmba!
Best Newcomer in association with the Academy of Music and Sound Scotland was presented by main sponsor Rebel Rebel Barbers and SAMAs founder Richy Muirhead. The Ninth Wave scooped the SAMA in this category.
Paisley grime MC Shogun got people in a spin with his wicked flow.
Vic Galloway presented Best Acoustic in association with citizenM and Best Rock/Alternative in association with Evenrbrite. The awards were won by Michael Cassidy and Bloodlines repsectively.
Colonel Mustard & The Dijon 5 presented Best Live Act in association with XpoNorth which Gerry Cinnamon went on to win!
Baby Strange closed SAMA 2016 with a rousing set!
