Awkward Family Portraits (ft Cara Rose) - Baby Blue

This unquestionably cohesive and classically jive-inducing track brings together two of Scotland’s most promising talents, both the jazz-tinged soul of Cara Rose and the effortless charm and delectable Americana stylings of Awkward Family Portraits. This makes for a truly seamless collaboration that will remain just as timeless as the era they draw inspiration from.

Megalomatic - Coil.

After the dust settled on their five year anniversary show at the Cathouse, Glasgow trio Megalomatic have dropped a menacing new track. Combing their monstrous riffs with a more groovy feel, Coil brings a darker edge to their sound. The expansive musicianship on show is driven by the powerful vocal performance from guitarist Craig McKenzie.

Niteworks - Air Fair An La ft Sian.

Niteworks return with the first single off their forthcoming second album! Air Fair An La is a marriage of traditional Scottish vocals (featuring Sian) behind an electronic background. A steady rhythm provides the heart of this track, turning it into a wash of trad sounds and booming electronic beats.

Lewis Ross - Come On Home

Having released teasings of new music following his debut single Come On Home, this month saw the release of a five-track EP from the Edinburgh singer. Both bittersweet youth tinged and serene, it’s an easy listen that doesn’t feel at all try hard while still managing to pull on the heartstrings. Instrumentals are kept understated to truly let Lewis’ vocal shine through, making for a much needed escape.

Kid Robotik x King Meraki - Kill Me! Ft Spawn Zero (Prod. By King Meraki).

Taken from the debut albumWhy It Bothers Me I Can't Sleep” of last year’s best hip-hop SAMA winner Kid Robotik, making for a vulnerably honest and at times dark offering from the musician and a release which was undoubtedly a long time coming.

Sean Reid - Do That.

Despite years of dipping in and out of music it’s a wonder this is the first release from Glasgow musician Sean Reid, offering a catchy chorus line backed by a stimulating melody, hopefully a taste of more to come!

Spare Snare - I Am God.

Having been around in the 90’s, the Dundee band have respected in peak condition with single “I Am God” taken from their latest album Sounds released on Chute Records, matching sublime synth work with a self-assured vocal to make for a welcome return!

The Twilight Sad - I’/m Not Here [missing face].

Under the pulsating bassline, The Twilight Sad deliver another brooding track as their first release on their new label Rock Action records (Mogwai / Kathryn Joseph). I/m Not Here (Missing Face) is as sombre as it is driving. Wailing guitar brings the eeriness to the already melancholic steeped sound.

Velvetbomb - Doom.

Glasgow two-piece Velvetbomb drop a guttural slab of thick riffs in the form of Doom. Bringing elements of Royal Blood and The Hyena Kill into their sound, the band bring a relentless energy that is barely contained within the three minute runtime. The Land of Doom and Dread out on Fighting Swans on 7” heavyweight white vinyl on the 28th July.

We Were Promised Jetpacks -Hanging In.

After a three year absence since their last LP, Unravelling, We Were Promised Jetpacks are back with Hanging In. Coming as the first single of the upcoming album, The More I Sleep The Less I Dream, the track sways at a blissful pace. Accompanied with arpeggiated synth lines and guitar stabs the track erupts in typical WWPJ fashion.
