CATCH UP: Fauves

As we approach Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2021 we wanted to take a moment and catch up with some of our previous winners to see how they are! Ella Inkeröinen from SAMA catches up with Ryan from Glasgow funk five-piece FAUVES.

Can you tell us what your creative process is like?

Fauves creative process for writing songs consists primarily of Ciaran and myself demoing in our wee studio in the city centre, drinking lots of coffee and smoking, but we recently quite the cigs, jonny included, because we are serious about being big rockstars etc.

What has your typical day/week looked like at the moment?

My weeks have consisted of nothing much more than rehearsals and serving a power of VBLs. We played at Playground Festival a few weeks back which was great, we all thoroughly enjoyed getting back out there and doing our thang.

What new music are you into?

I’m really looking forward to the new Parcels record, been loving the singles, especially Somethinggreater. Also digging the new Unknown Mortal Orchestra stuff, as well as recently getting into Roisin Murphy after seeing her live.

If you could collaborate with one artist who would it be with and why?

Cardi B I think. Something something vibestation garage.

What have you learned about yourself since becoming a musician?

I’ve learned that sometimes it helps taking time to see tracks in a different perspective, as opposed to binning them or not returning to them if you’re not Instantly chuffed with them in the moment.

What's the best advice you've been given?

Live, Laugh, Love.

Is there anything that you'd like to plug?

We have a new track/video out called ‘Faded’ it’s a fonky one, check it out below!
