Abigail Pryde - Lady

Trad-folk songstress Abigail Pryde, known for fronting Heron Valley, steps out on her own with the debut solo single Lady. Having toured around the country with Heron Valley for the last few years, this step into a solo career is not a cautious one but a confident and empowering one. Weaving her gorgeous vocal melodies over the triumphant beat, pinned by a driving acoustic guitar, the song gradually expands into a raucous burst of luscious harmonies alongside seething guitar leads. This track will no doubt be the precursor to Pryde branching out and continuing to hone her craft.

Graham Costello - Circularity

Leading the way for the new album, entitled Second Lives, Circularity is the brand new single from Graham Costello’s Strata. Leading the creative force, Costello has been creating a variety of songs that range from post-rock to minimalist jazz. Circularity leans more towards the minimalist part of the multi-faceted musician, with a beautifully sparse opening to the track allowing the saxophone to croon notes amidst the hushed instrumentation.

Kaputt - Movement Now

Establishing their esoteric and feverish grooves, the new single from punk six-piece Kaputt, Movement Now, does not disappoint. Taking elements of the more experimental punk bands like X-Ray Spex and The Stooges, the band have been crafting a name for themselves since their formation in 2017. With Movement Now, the band continue to push their sonic boundaries out with their infectious and aggressive grooves.

Paque, BOREGARD - Special

Glasgow-based rapper Paque has linked up with Atlanta’s Boregard for this brand new track entitled Special. Having honed his skills since his debut in 2016, the artist has released a slew of singles since then gaining him attention in the local scene. On Special, Paque flexes his lyrical and production talents as he crafts a sharp but smooth, with Boregard slaying his verse in the middle of the track.

Rachel Jack - Magazine Girls

Having had support from BBC Introducing Scotland and the Snack magazine, solo artist Rachel Jack has been gaining a strong following off the back off her debut EP The Calgary Tapes last year. Coming as the title track from her second EP, Magazine Girls challenges the unfair beauty standard of our society. Spinning her powerful argument over a demanding drum beat, with waves of synth taking over during the chorus similar to the pop queens such as Lorde or Hayley Wiliiams.

Randolph’s Leap - BMH

Making pop music for unpopular people since 2013, the delightful Randolph’s Leap are back with their new album Spirit Level. Lead single BMH (an acronym for the art-house classic Big Momma’s House), is a playful and warming track. Kicking it off with an instantly catchy hook, the track is complete with a joyous horn section that keeps getting better every time the chorus comes in for another pass.

SheBeat - Homecoming Queen

Hailing from Liverpool but based in Edinburgh, SheBeat has been self-publishing her music with three EP’s already under her belt.  With her brand new song Homecoming Queen, the artist propels the song with her acoustic guitar, Infusing Americana flavours with a lo-fi and romantic sound.

swim school - Let me Inside Your Head

Edinburgh based four piece swim school having been gathering an unstoppable momentum since their debut single in 2019. With appearances supporting The Xcerts, festival slots such as Belladrum and TRNSMT, the band have been quickly whipping up buzz around their slick blend of art-pop and shoegaze. The latest single, Let Me Inside Your Head, takes this sonic landscape into a more aggressive and pointed direction. Locking the verses in a groove before unleashing a scorching chorus, this track is mean and visceral.

Tzusan, Crpntr - Portcullis

Edinburgh based hip-hop artist Tzusan brings a sleek take to the lofi side of the genre with the help of Crptnr with the track Portcullis. Coming as part Tzusan’s second album Fizzy Milk, this track is pinned by the relentless drum sample that glitches and spits as it progresses. Both Tzusan and Crptnr have the chance to flex their impeccable rhymes, playing off each other extremely well.

VLURE - Shattered Faith

Garnering acclaim and support from the likes of Rough Trade and Jack Saunders at BBC Radio 1, VLURE’s debut single Shattered Faith is an explosive listen from the get go. With a visceral wave of searing guitars and cascading synths, the Glasgow based quintet are quickly becoming the hottest new band to hit the airwaves. Having played a blistering live show at the Hug and Pint before the pandemic hit, this band have not let that dampen their spirits.
